Terms & Conditions

Last updated July 29, 2026

1. Who you are contracting with

These Terms govern your use of The Next Chapter Academy (the "Course" or "Service"), operated by The Next Chapter Academy ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account, enrolling, or continuing to use the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have authority to bind it; otherwise you confirm you are of legal age to enter this agreement.

2. What we provide

The Service is a self-guided, 8-week online course for people recovering from a breakup: written lessons, daily practices, video material, worksheets, a private journal, mood check-ins, grounding tools, and an AI-assisted companion for reflective conversation. Enrollment grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to access the Course for your own personal use under the plan you purchased.

Not professional care. The Course is educational and supportive content. It is not therapy, counseling, medical, psychological, or crisis care, and it is not a substitute for treatment from a qualified professional. If you are in crisis, contact your local emergency service or a crisis line (in the US, call or text 988).

Companion accuracy. The companion generates responses automatically and may be inaccurate or incomplete. You are responsible for what you share with it and for how you act on anything it says. Do not rely on it for medical, legal, financial, or other regulated professional advice without qualified human oversight. We may filter, restrict, or refuse outputs and moderate content at our discretion.

3. Your account

  • Provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
  • Keep your login credentials confidential; you are responsible for activity under your account.
  • Course access is personal. Do not share, resell, or redistribute your access or the Course materials.

4. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • use the Service for any unlawful purpose;
  • commit fraud, send spam, or impersonate others;
  • infringe anyone's intellectual property or privacy rights;
  • upload or generate illegal content, harassment, hate speech, sexual content involving minors, deepfakes of real people, or malware;
  • attempt to jailbreak, manipulate, or misuse the companion to produce prohibited content;
  • interfere with security — probing, scraping, scanning, reverse engineering, or circumventing technical limits.

You must have the rights to any content you submit. If you believe material on the Service infringes your rights, contact us and we will review and remove infringing content; repeat infringers lose access.

5. Your content

Your journal entries, worksheets, letters, check-ins, and companion conversations belong to you. You grant us a limited license to host and process that content solely to operate and provide the Service.

6. Our intellectual property

We own the Service and all material in it — course text, curriculum structure, worksheets, design, software, and branding. No rights transfer to you other than the access license above.

7. Service level

We work to keep the Service available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

8. Payment, billing, and refunds

The Next Chapter Academy is the seller of record for all orders. Card payments are processed securely by Stripe; we never see or store your card details.

Prices are shown in US dollars. Any sales tax or VAT required in your location is calculated at checkout and shown before you pay. Our refund window is set out in our Refund Policy.

9. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access for material breach of these Terms, non-payment, security or fraud risk, or repeated or serious policy violations. On termination your access ends; you may request an export of your journal and worksheet content within 30 days, after which it may be deleted.

10. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill. Our aggregate liability is capped at the fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here excludes liability for fraud, death, or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded by law.

You will indemnify us against claims arising from your content, your unlawful use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms.

11. General

You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger or acquisition. Neither party is liable for delays caused by events beyond reasonable control. These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which The Next Chapter Academy is established, and disputes will be heard by the courts there. We may update these Terms; continued use after an update means acceptance.

12. Contact

Questions about these Terms: contact The Next Chapter Academy through the support option in your account. Billing and refund requests are handled by us directly — contact support from your account and we'll take care of it.
